简介：故事发生在明朝末年，侯朝宗（冯喆 饰）是文人组织“复社”的领袖，该组织主要抨击的对象是奸臣阮大铖（韩涛 饰）侯朝宗的刚正不阿和满腹文采吸引了青楼名妓李香君（王丹凤 饰）的注意，情投意合的两人很快就走到了一起，决定结为夫妻。 为了拉拢侯朝宗，阮大铖匿名赠送了李香君一笔巨额的嫁妆，结果被李香君识破，物归原主。崇祯皇帝死后，宏光继位，受阮大铖花言巧语的蒙蔽，将其重用视为左膀右臂。手握权势的阮大铖趁此机会陷害侯朝宗，并且打击复社组织，追捕激进人士。一晃眼八年过去，侯朝宗早已经不是当年意气风发的青年，看到爱人面目全非风骨不在，心碎的李香君选择了出家为尼。
